IS YOUR WATCH BAND DISRUPTING YOUR SLEEP?

Sleep. Who doesn’t love it? But who also doesn’t hate it? If humans didn’t need sleep, I wouldn’t complain, but I might miss those days where you crave your pillow, tucking yourself into the cool embrace of your bed.

My sleep, like many other Americans, is erratic, sometimes painful, and ofttimes not nearly sufficient. Why is that?

We have busy lives in a busy world seeping to the core with light pollution, sirens, and a swirl of to-do’s. Sometimes I find myself in bed, trying to sleep, only to have my mind wandering for two hours, through the rabbit-hole of an intriguing tangent, down the abyss of anxiety.

Yet, I’ve gotten better at it, because, like many other people, I track my sleep with an AppleWatch. It’s one of the main reasons I have a wearable device: sleep, and then fitness.

But I must be honest here, it’s not always comfortable. Not always cozy. And certainly not always “smart”!

In fact, sometimes (usually at 4 a.m.) I have a strange proclivity to give my right side a break and roll to my left, nudging my AppleWatch. Ta-Da! It lights up! Right in my face!

And nothing frustrates me more.

At.

All.

There is nothing like a jolt of tech-frustration to put your heart monitor on high alert and wreck your weekly sleep stats.
